Azzedine Alaia: the ”system” could devour more designers
In an interview to French media, French couturier Azzedine Alaia, known for his non conventional approach of presenting his collections when they are ready and not during the fixed fashion week calendars, said that nowadays fashion become a ”crazy system” where everything follows timed rules and schedule. He sensibly wonders why luxury fashion maisons should follow strict calendars and a whole logistics system when fast fashion brands such as Zara or H&M do a far better job. When asked about Galliano and McQueen he expressed his sadness but did not blame the two, but rather the ”system” which had spoiled them to a level where they lost touch with reality.
The Azzedine Alaia maison has been owned by Richemont Group since 1983. Richemont also includes Cartier, MontBlanc, Piaget, Net-A-Porter etc.
