Australia plans to attract more wealthy Chinese

Tourism Australia has unveiled plans to build an elite network of travel agents in China, which are specially trained to sell Australian tour packages to HNWI Chinese travellers.

Under the new model, the tourism marketing group will work more closely with a small number of targeted travel agencies in higher income cities with good air connections to Australia, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Chengdu and Chongqing. The aim is to work with 30 to 35 travel agents in the first year.

Besides increasing flights, thus easing aviation access, Australia’s Tourism Board regards as equally important for travel agents to provide this new breed of independent Chinese traveller with the information and resources to build a much richer and higher quality holiday experience.
