2012, the year for the LACOSTE woman

With the occasion of celebrating four decades of their partnership with French Tennis Open ROLAND GARROS, Christophe Chenut, general manager of Lacoste S.A., the family company that owns the brand in which licensee, Devenlay company holds 35% , spoke to FashionMag.Com about the company plans and future perspective. Devenlay’s turnover of Lacoste ready to wear has surpassed 1,4 billion euros in wholesale worldwide.

When asked about the importance of the partnership with Roland Garros, Chenut said the tournament is part of Lacoste’s history and its DNA, perfectly capturing the spirit of the brand and its core lifestyle component.  After the recent opening in Hamburg, other major flagship stores are planned for New York, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

In terms of licensing, the company signed an agreement with Cemalac (Devanlay subsidiary) for leatherwear and with Marchon for sunglasses. In 2012, designer Felipe Oliveira Baptisa will sign the first Lacoste women’s collection. Already, 80% of Lacoste customers are women.
